Life in a Pod

Having just returned from having a lovely week at Trecombe Lakes in Cornwall, I thought it only fair that I should share what this delightful little 'glamping' pod site has to offer for families looking for something a bit different for a holiday base.

Firstly, if you like a bit of peace and quiet, but in a family friendly environment, this place is perfect. There are only 5 wooden 'pods' on the site, each sleeping 4 people, and they are well spaced out, each with their very own firepit area, decking and BBQ. Perfect for cooking up sausage and marshmallow feasts! The situation is rural, yet only 10 minutes from beaches, Falmouth, the Helford River, lovely gardens (Glendurgan and Trebah) and gorgeous eating places such as The Ferryboat Inn and The Potager cafe (I could write a whole separate blog on the fabulousness of this garden/cafe!).

Each wooden pod is stylishly furnished with everything you should need, including it's own shower room/toilet, hot running water, electricity, heating, proper beds (a double and 2 singles), cooker, fridge and beanbags for lounging. So, in other words, all your creature comforts! They were nice and warm and toasty inside, being well insulated for all weathers. The insulation also makes them amazingly quiet inside and we never heard a peep from the other pods, despite there being a mixture of babies, young children and slightly older children in the mix! So, the opposite of nightime on a normal campsite!

The grounds of the site are amazing as well, with lakes sprouting enormous lily pads, woods, rowing boats to use whenever you wish (lifejackets provided), a woodland play area with climbing wall, swings, tree house, swinging tyres, etc and lots of nice lush grass (helped by the wet weather!) to play ball games on. Also, there is the communal lodge house which has games, a DVD player, information leaflets, lifejackets, highchair, large fridge and microwave amongst many other useful items.  This is accessible at all times and is useful on rainy days. There are also logs, kindling, firelighters and charcoal available as you need it, with an honesty box for payment. So no excuses for not embracing the outdoors!

So all in all, this is a really wonderful place for a relaxed family holiday, enabling you to enjoy the outdoors, whilst having a lovely cosy pod to curl up in at night. I would thoroughly recommend it!
